COTR Museia: A “Ghostly Little Book” – Victorian Ghost Stories and Dicken’s ‘A Christmas Carol’

Thursday December 5 @ 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM

Free

The Faculty in Arts, Humanities, and Social Science at College of the Rockies, in partnership with the Cranbrook Library, invites you to the next public lecture in the COTR Museia series taking place inside the College lecture theatre.

This lecture is free to attend but we do ask that you pre-register online to help us manage numbers.

Dr. Caley Ehnes, English instructor at College of the Rockies, will explore why one of the most well-known Christmas stories of the past two hundred years features ghosts. Join Dr. Ehnes as she explores the origins of Dickens’s “Ghostly little book” and discusses how Dickens’s “ghost of an idea” came to define Christmas entertainments for both nineteenth-century readers, who greatly anticipated their annual yuletide ghost story, and the audiences of film, television, and theatre today.
